Musiccareer: Baby Santa Baby Santa started at the end of 2005 and, though I cannot say I’m 100% sure about it, was started by Mikaru and Ivy. Ivy placed an advertisement; he was looking for someone to make music with. Baby Santa was a session band at that time. Mikaru and Ivy were joined by Erina and Kei. 
All of them had been in one or more bands before, which gave them an advantage on other bands. Some fans even think they can hear a connection between some songs from Chelsea (Erina was in Chelsea) and songs from DIO.
However, Baby Santa had no real drummer. They had a supporting drummer but he was replaced after a few months by Denka! Dio ~distraught overlord~ 13th May 2006… Baby Santa stopped being Baby Santa. They became DIO ~Distraught Overlord~ and stopped being a session band. This is when the band is officially formed. 14th May was when they really started to exist, they performed their first concert and spread their first single 硝子の海 (garasu no umi). They got really famous after their performance at the Japan expo in France. According to DIO they are trying to, without any stereotypes, mix the melodious with the dark and heavy. 
In Februari 2008 they released their first mini-album and in December 2008 they released their first full length album; DICTATOR, their sound being darker and heavier than before. They also did some remakes on that last album from former songs and we can clearly hear how Mikaru’s voice has grown. Disbanding 29th Juli 2009, DIO announced that they would take a break after 25th September. The reason was a break-up with their management. However, this was not what worried the fans the most! They also announced that Erina would leave the band after that date. He was never replaced.... January 2010, our fear became reality. At DIO's homepage stood a message about their disbanding. This would be after their last concert at 13th March. Their musical differences were too big and they decided it was wiser to stop. There was a sprakle of hope though! This same message said 'it would be wiser to continue as a new band.' Does that mean with the same line-up and a new name? We still do not know!
