† Discography
Musiccareer: The Tetsu Era: Malice Mizer was formed in 1992 by Közi (guitarist and synthesizer) and Mana (guitarist and synthesizer). The band was based on the questions "what is human?" and "what is lurking deep inside the human mind?". The other members were Yu-ki (bass), Gaz (drumms) and Tetsu (vocalist).
They went through three era's, starting with the Tetsu era. In this era the music is very classical old French and not that complicated. Tetsu has a very fast though passionated voice.
Before Mana and Közi started Malice Mizer they were together in the band Matenrou. Közi thinks they made some very important pieces there, which came back in Malice Mizer. Anyway, the first department of a member was in 15th March 1993 when Gaz left the band. He was replaced by Kami <3 The Tetsu era was finished pretty early, after the Memoire album Tetsu left 27th December 1994). The Gackt era: is maybe the most famous era! The music they made became more complicated and in my opinion more beautiful! After releasing Voyage and some singles they changed their way of composing. Now they would use a keyboard instead of a guitar. In 1997 they made a small video, Verte Aile which included the Bel Air single at the end, they went to France for it and made it in 9 days. ^_^ In this year they also switched labels. They'd been producing under Mana-sama's label: Middi:Nette but now they produced under Colombia.
I want to tell you something extra about the Merveilles album. Listen very carefull! You can hear very complicated sounds in the back which make the songs more beautiful! For example: when you listen to Illuminati carefully you van hear the sound of a whipe which makes the rithme. In 1998 Gackt left Malice Mizer, why isn't really clear. He tells about it in his autobiography but I do not know if he wrote the whole truth. The next part is a copy of my own translations of his autobiography where he tells about his departure. If I think about it now, the cause of Malice Mizer's breakup was my own individualism and self-confidence, and the widening difference between things that the other members were concerned about . The first time our relations became strange was when the performance at the Yokohama Arena was drawing near (July '98). The final straw was when I wrote the music to "Le Ciel." Until then, I was going to be the lyrics writer and either Mana or Kozi was going to write the music. "Le Ciel" was the first time I became a member that handled both the music and the lyrics. Among the members, I was the only one who kept doing more of these kinds of tasks, and I completely isolated myself. When I was honest with myself, I was shocked. Within the members of the band, with it being me versus the other four members, we parted ways cordially. There was no mediator, and no one followed up on me. Though I said, "shouldn't I have done what I did with 'Le Ciel?'" a short time later, I really wanted to go back to the band. But in the end, that didn't happen. [...] Then one day in 1998, around when the summer heat was beginning to cool, they called a members' meeting. Though usually at the meetings, only members attended, that day, when the appointed time came, all of the other members and the president of the office were all there and waiting for me. "Why is the president at a members' meeting?" I asked. And someone answered, "because Malice Mizer is over." Huh? And right after I thought that, they said it. "We can't work anymore with you." In that instant, I didn't really feel anything much. So, I said that I would like Malice Mizer to continue even if I did quit. But the band's answer was, at any rate, just that they were unable to do that. All right, everyone, I will say no more. I won't be obnoxious. In this case, I couldn't say that. If this was the end, there was also a way to erase that. No matter what would happen at the end, could I shut the curtain in the face of the fans that have helped me along until now? That was the most important thing. As I was saying these things, someone else started saying nasty things. "Isn't it good enough that we put out a CD? We're selling copies, at least…" At those words, I got angry. "Don't joke around! Don't make fun of the fans!" In my anger, I got up from my seat and left. The sadness that I felt even more than the anger was accounting for most of what I did. I was miserable. Once again, this is Gackt's story, if Mana, Közi or Yu-ki would tell us about it they might tell us something else. So don't be too sure about it! A few months later Kami died (21th June 1999). The Klaha era: In 1999 Malice Mizer left Colombia and went back to their old label Middi:Nette because they sort off got into a fight with the people from Colombia. ^^" I don't know if it was because of Kami's dead, but their music became darker and more classic. The songs produced without a vocalist had some air of mystery and were somehow pretty scary. With Klaha's operatic voice and more classical influences they became more "gothic". I aslo like this period, Klaha's voice gave it something mysterious with his very deep voice. ^_^
It was during this period that they made a full lenght movie called Bara no Konei ~mayonaka ni kawashita yakusouku~ (bridal of rose ~the promise made at midnight~). After the Bara no seidou album their music became less dark and lighter again. You can also find some soft metal influences in it. The last song they relesed was Garnet. 11 December 2001... The band went on a definitive hiatus. ;_; Discography: Unfortunately there are no lyrics availble (yet). 1994: 24-07: Album; Memoire 1.
