† Mana
Basic info: Name: Unknown Artistname: Mana, however, for me it will always be Mana-sama. -sama literary means "lord" in Japanese. It's said when you really respect someone. Gender: male, yes really! Date of birth: 19-03-?? Place of birth: Japan; Hiroshima Height: About 173 cm Weight: Around 49 kg Bloodtype: O Equipment: His amazing guitars! Since he plays in M10M he also designs his own guitars. Period: ??-1992 -- 12-2001
Hobbies Watching Italian horror movies (especially those with vampires), playing video games, cooking and experimenting with spices. Favourites: Musicans: Bach Music: French pop music Food: Fried bread (yummy! ^_^), indian curry and salad. Drinks: Vegetable juice Make-up: Eyeliner from Shiseido and foundation from Clé de peau Colour: Deep blue and black Manga: Angelique (and his favourite character is Rachael) Dislikes Talking in public, non-feminine women and showing affection in public. Other funny facts: * Mana-sama has a very strong personality. Some say he’s an ice queen, though he maybe not so emotional, I totally disagree with them. He just wants to create something which is perfect in every way. You can see that when you read interviews with him. He knows exactly what he wants and just wants to reach his goals.
* Mana-sama doesn’t speak in public. He wants his music to speak for him. Though there are some videos on you tube in where he (accidently?) speaks. * Mana-sama and Közi were the official leaders of Malice Mizer but Közi admitted he’s not such a good leader. So it was mostly Mana-sama who did the leader stuff. * He loves Italian horror movies but he hates the American "just spread all the blood and torture them" movies. He also doesn't watch Japanese horror movies because they're to scary! <3 * Mana-sama can also play drums and bass. * He is an ex-member of the band Yes.tearge (during his high school), Girl-e (under the name Serina), Matenrou, ART MARJU DUCHAIN and Malice Mizer. * With woman Mana-sama is really pick. He wants a women who is like cartoon character. Doll-like, stylish, wearing mini-skirts and knee-high socks. He doesn’t like the popular dressed girls (of course he doesn’t >_<) and he also dislikes the normal college student style. He wants a woman who can express herself clearly and who is neither athletic nor lazy. Once he said he wants a women who can become his doll (I would like to becaome your doll Mana-sama!). Oh and he’s especially interested in married woman (that’s so naughty! ^o^) or widows! So do you think you fit this image? xD Mana-sama may be difficult but he is interested in woman! He sais he’s never really been in love and he feels a little bit uncomfortable when people talk about it. He doesn’t want to come to close to woman and he would never show affection in public! He’s afraid to ruin a relationship when he’s with the girl too much. He’s also afraid of visiting her house because he fears to know everything about her, but at the same time he wants to know her better. Though you wouldn’t expect it, Mana-sama is really shy! He doesn’t dare to date a girl and when he does they always go out with a group. For those who are the really fangurlish-fans (like me xD); Mana-sama had a girlfriend. Yes he really had! In 2004 he wrote in his site that he loved her so much and that she was soooo sexy *jealous*. Though the site isn't really up to date so I don't know if he's still with her. A friend of mine also says she knows the founder of JaME who went to Mana-sama's wedding! o_0 This was at the end of 2007. It's supposed to be Shizu, owner of Midi:Nette and Mana-sama would even be on some pictures with her. Though once again. The stories are different. The truth is one which only Mana-sama knows. And even is he is married let's be happy for him, ok? ^_^ Damn I hate the bitch >_>" .. ^^" * It’s said by his friends and members who have been in the same band that Mana-sama won’t join conversations he isn’t interested in. It makes himself an interesting person (lol xD) * It’s also said Mana-sama doesn’t have any friends (which is not true by the way) but it’s difficult for him to find people who appreciate his ideas. * Fashion is his live. He doesn’t care about what’s popular and what’s not. In his late teens Mana-sama got interested in woman’s clothing. He likes them because of their design. There are much more accents in woman’s clothing than in man’s clothing. Also in his normal live Mana-sama wears make-up. He doesn’t like normal clothes and changes his clothes almost every day, depending on the occasion, place and time. He really enjoys wearing mini-skirts. He understands why woman wants to wear them and thinks it’s exciting because he attracts other’s attention. He even cares about his underwear! o_0 His family first got problems with this, they raised him as a boy and he first was a punk chick so for them it was little difficult to accept him as he is. Not only his parents are hard on him, also other people are hard on him. But that is what gives him the courage to be different. * Mana-sama would like to like a cartoon character, with long arms and long legs. * He hates light, his bedroom is only filled with candles. * The first thing he does when he wakes up (4 or 5 a.m.!) is jogging, then he puts on his clothes and make-up. His make-up often takes two hours! * Mana-sama is one of the few artists who doesn’t smoke. * He can distinguish 30 spices with his nose! o_0
* Közi always calls Mana 'Mana-chan', except from when he needs something. Then he says 'Mana-sama' (he said this during the Beast of Blood interview, you should really see it!). * Mana-sama seems to speak with an accent from his hometown (I wonder how they know that though ^^"). * Before a live performance Mana-sama carries a little note book in which he makes sketches from where he wants the band to be during each song. * Though Mana-sama loves watching movies, he don't like to watch them with other people because they'll talk during the movie ^_^ * If he wouldn't have become a musician he would have become a mysterious cook >_<" * He may not laugh on the TV but when you read his interviews he's really really funny!! xD * Mana-sama collects hats. First he buys them and later he'll add some stuff like flowers on it ^^ Mana's live: As a kid Mana-sama was already well known with music. When Mana-sama was still in his mothers womb they let him listen to a lot of classical music. His father was a music teacher in high school and Mana-sama had to learn the piano. In their house you could find a piano, keyboard and a trumpet. But Mana-sama wasn’t that fond of music.
In primary school he followed sculpture class. He loved broken clay statues ^^”. He was also well known for his painting talents, he won several awards for it. When Mana-sama listened to music, his listened to rock music, he especially liked the sounds of a distorted guitar. He also liked heavy metal but admits that’s more because they look so cool. In Junior High Mana-sama came back to music, wanting a guitar. His parents bought a folk guitar for him but he wanted an electric guitar and bought one himself. He has never used the folk guitar ^^”. After his whole heavy metal period he started to like hardcore punk. He loved the chaotic lives and also their hairdo’s (especially the Mohawk, he tried it out and even wore it when he was playing handball). Mana-sama liked being different. When something was extremely popular he wouldn’t join it or didn’t like it anymore. For example: he was a member of the art club and the handball club because they were less popular (I would have loved to be in the same club as Mana-sama!). This is also why Mana-sama hated school uniforms and he would change them as much as he could. After school Mana-sama really didn’t know what to do. He didn’t want to become businessman but more he really didn’t know. At that time he was in a band with some friends playing punk music. After a while he realised he wanted to search for his own musical identity. He started to wear make-up and listened a lot to classic music he had brought with him. He also started to collect horror tapes, especially Italian horror tapes. He loved the music which played in the background. He started to get inspired for creating his own music and unique style which he wanted to be dull (the classical influence) and heavy (the metal influence) at the same time. He formed a group with which he played those music. They all wore make-up and were really punk. The group played in livehouses but had only one guitarist and would never become popular. Mana-sama realised this very well. In 1991 Mana-sama moved to Tokyo. When he changed his part-time job he met Közi who introduced him to visual kei. He invited him to come to house and Közi got really interested in Mana-sama (because he was really impressed by his horror tape collection ^^”). Anyway, Közi was asked to be guitarist in Matenrou and he recommended Mana-sama. The band disbanded pretty early and Mana-sama and Közi started to talk together about the question “what is human?” Malice Mizer was born. With Malice Mizer Mana-sama also made his own label Midi:Nette. Mana-sama became pretty famous. Not only for his music and unique style, but also because he never talks. Never talks? Well, not in TV shows. I guess backstage he does xD but there are only a few shows in which he's been saying something. And even then it was only one sentence or so. Then how does he communicate? By whispering something in the ear of another band member, by using signs or by making cute gestures. ^_^
October 1999 Mana-sama started his own brand Moi-Même-Moitié. Next from a musician he’s also a fashion designer. It sells Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat clothing. In 2001 Mana-sama opened his own shop in Tokyo (Aoyama). After the disbanding of Malice Mizer (December 2001) Mana-sama started Moi Dix Mois 19th March 2002. His image is darker, not as feminine as in Malice Mizer but those who know Mana-sama will see he’s still the same. Only a bit older and with more experience in live. We can also find Mana-sama in the band "Mana's not dead" on drums (!), I really would like to know more about this band so if you do have more information, please contact me! |
